What a Year 2024 was for TTIFMA.
Happy New Year to all TTIFMA members, potential members, supporters and the facility management community.
We are immensely proud of our achievements as we confidently move into 2025, looking forward to strengthening and expanding our networks, continuing and improving our engagement with members, potential members and strategic partners, highlighting Chapter benefits and supporting the training needs of the local and regional industry.
Reflecting on our local and international successes, TTIFMA realized commendable growth in its financial status, saw a 33% increase in training uptake, commemorated a successful 15 years of operations in Trinidad and Tobago and received the 2024 IFMA Chapter Award of Excellence In Web Communication – Small Chapter.
TTIFMA was able to garner support for its 2024 financial strategic objectives through the engagement of sponsors by way of its 15th Chapter Anniversary and its increased training uptake for the FMP and EoFM programs. As a non-profit organization we are continually challenged to meet our ongoing operational expenses and provide value to our members and supporters. We sincerely thank our 15th Anniversary Event Sponsors – Gold Sponsor Angostura, Bronze sponsors Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited (TTNPMCL) and Peake Technologies Limited - for their confidence and support of the Chapter’s objective. We look forward to your continued support and the support of other sponsors as we begin our journey in 2025.
We also congratulate and thank our 2024 FMP and EoFM cohorts for taking up the challenge and positioning themselves to take their career to the next level via IFMA training. Your energy and interest in FM learning stood out amongst our trainers and we look forward to assisting you with your future training needs. It should be noted that the 2024 EoFM cohort included regional participants from St. Kitts and Nevis and local participants. The previous year’s intake included 4 members from Grenada. This increase in training uptake is a direct result of the Chapter’s Strategic focus on marketing its training offering and engagements with potential members using our social media platforms and direct engagements.
Of course, we also reflect on some of our other 2024 activities, including our thought-provoking International Women’s Day virtual Sip and Chat held in March 2024, and the memorable NAPA Tour in May 2024. Not to mention our Chapter meetings held during the year. TTIFMA also had the privilege of serving as a member of the Working Committee for the Development of a Facility Management Policy and Procedure for the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. We were very happy to contribute to this Committee and look forward to the outcome of this exercise.
On the International forefront, TTIFMA was a proud recipient of the 2024 IFMA Chapter Award of Excellence In Web Communication – Small Chapter. This was (and still is) a proud moment for the Chapter, as it was the first International Chapter Award received by TTIFMA. Other international recognition includes Mr. Richard Gunpat (TTIFMA Vice President) receiving the IFMA 2024 Distinguished Member Award and Mr. Marvin Sinanan (TTIFMA Member) being accepted to serve on IFMA’s Certification Commission for a three (3) year period. Marvin’s appointment follows the end of TTIFMA’s Immediate Past President – Mr. Vaughn Halliday term on the Commission. IFMA’s Certification Commission is responsible for overseeing the product development life cycle regarding IFMA’s Body of Knowledge, current and future certificate-based credential programs and programs eligible for continuing education units (CEU’s).
As organizations work towards aligning FM strategies with wider business objectives, the sector is at the forefront of adapting to the changing global landscape, driving innovation, and ensuring resilient and future-ready facilities. We encourage industry professionals and executives (C-Suite) to recognize and appreciate the value facility management contributes to their organizational success. Trends such as sustainable development, Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, digital workspace services and flexible workspaces are all within the realm of Facilities Management and contribute to an organization’s success through improved operational efficiency, staff welfare, productivity and ultimately the bottom line.
TTIFMA remains focused on creating value for its membership, building capacity within the FM industry through training and networking, and supporting recognition and growth of the FM industry. We look forward to continuing engagement with our members, stakeholders and supporters for the advancement of the profession.
Wishing you all success, good health and prosperity for 2025.
Best regards
Cindy Guevara | President
