TTIFMA 15th Anniversary Panel Discussion & Networking Cocktail

The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (TTIFMA) celebrated its 15th Anniversary as a Chapter on July 19, 2024, at the House of Angostura in Laventille.  The event included the swearing in of the new (returning) TTIFMA Board for the 2024/2025 term.  The elected Board members are Ms. Cindy Guevara - President, Mr. Richard Gunpat - Vice President, Ms. Jackie Gittens - Secretary, Ms. Giselle Holder - Treasurer and Mr. Vaughn Halliday - Immediate Past President.

The Gold Sponsor of the event was Angostura, which celebrates its 200th Anniversary this year. Angostura's Chief Operating Officer - Mr. Ian Forbes brought greetings and well wishes to the audience and congratulated TTIFMA on its Anniversary. Bronze sponsors included Peake Technologies Limited and the Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company (NPMC).  

The Anniversary event was commemorated by an engaging and enlightening panel discussion on the topic "AI Applications in Caribbean FM".  The esteemed Panel included a mix of international and local panelist including Mr. Ted Ritter - Current Global Co-Chair of the IFMA Technology Community, co-author of “The Facility Manager’s Guide to Information Technology” and IFMA Fellow; Dr. Craig Ramlal - Leader of the Control Systems Group, Principal Investigator of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory and Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of The West Indies and Mr. Tyrel Melville - Senior Facilities Manager at JLL, an authority in the FM field, inaugural president of the Trinidad & Tobago IFMA Chapter and winner of IFMA's 40 under 40 award. This panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Cindy Guevara - TTIFMA President.  The discussions engaged the panelists and attendees alike on matters such as measures being put in place within the Caribbean for AI integration and adoption, the risks and challenges FM's may face integrating AI in their organizations and AI applications currently in use to drive FM efficiencies. 

Following the Panel discussions, formal proceedings ensued including the official swearing in of the new Board and distribution of appreciation tokens to the following individuals and organizations for their continued support of the TT Chapter: Details Integrated Solutions Ltd. (DISL), Servus, Alana Stanislaus (TTIFMA Communications Chair), Aykean Forde and Giselle Holder and Jackie Gittens (TTIFMA Secretary).  At the networking cocktail, which included inaugural TTIFMA members, guests were treated to tasty Hors d'oeuvres and a medley of Angostura's beverages, while mingling in a nostalgic and exciting ambiance. A good time was had by all who attended.
