Today we celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (TTIFMA). We are grateful to our parent body IFMA for developing and nurturing the platforms, opportunities and training for the Facility Management (FM) profession and its practitioners to be recognized as an integral and necessary component of an organization’s successful operation. More so, we are thankful for the group of professionals who had the foresight to recognize the value and importance of engaging with IFMA to create a local professional body to support FM professionals.
In reflecting on the remarkable evolution that the FM industry has undergone and continues to experience, we can be confident that the future is bright and full of opportunities for the FM profession. TTIFMA has remained resilient in its efforts to advance the FM profession locally and regionally through training, networking and the many opportunities offered by IFMA
The Covid 19 pandemic tested the resilience and creativity of the FM industry and its practitioners. It highlighted the relevance and necessity of FM in safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of building occupants, which saw organizations focusing more on workplace wellness and employee well-being. What this meant for the industry was that there was an increased reliance on FM’s to have expert understanding beyond the traditional concerns of FM, by expanding and intensifying their understanding of how the workplace impacts occupants' physical and mental well being.
As FM’s we have come a long way from performing basic maintenance services to being critical strategic partners supporting an organization's bottom line. In navigating the daily complexities of a rapidly changing world, building systems have become more complex, positioning the facility manager with both opportunity and challenge. One of the key drivers of this transformation is technological advancements such as IoT, data analytics and now AI, which has empowered FM towards more data driven decisions, optimizing building performance and creating sustainable environments.
The future is bright for the FM industry as we keep in step with technological advancements, embrace innovation and remain people-centric in our objectives. TTIFMA reaffirms its commitment to the continued development and support of the FM industry and serving its members. We welcome member engagement and thank each and every member, supporter, sponsor, partner and potential members in advancing the Chapter and its efforts.
Thank you for keeping us going for the past 15 years and we look forward to serving you for many more to come.
